Assessment of the impact of weather conditions on forest health status and forest disturbances at regional and national scale based on the integration of ground and space-based remote sensing datasets

Consortium: Institute Geodesy and Cartography (leader), Department of Forest Resources Management – University of Agriculture in Krakow (leader: prof. Jarosław Socha).
The main aims of the project are:
- to assess the impact of weather condition on the forest health status,
- to assess the vulnerability of forest to extreme weather conditions with particular emphasis on drought effects,
- to develop an integrated remote-based method for detecting, predicting and monitoring forest condition.
To achieve these aims, the detailed analysis of forest disturbances, site conditions, site productivity, forest parameters and weather parameters in conjunction with the comprehensive analysis of the spectral responses to forest disturbances using a combination of high and medium resolution satellite images will be conducted at local (forest stands) and regional scale (three forest districts).
